About Me

Being a mother to five children has deeply shaped my understanding of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. Through my own journey with breastfeeding, lactation became a true passion for me—not just as a mother, but as someone who wanted to support and uplift other mothers. I saw firsthand how often Black and other mothers of color face disparities in prenatal and postpartum care, especially when it comes to breastfeeding education, pain management, and being listened to. Those experiences motivated me to become a source of support and advocacy, helping mothers feel informed, confident, and empowered during such a critical time. All of my births were by C-section, and that experience gave me a very real understanding of how complex and different recovery can be. No two recoveries were the same for me—each one came with its own physical challenges, emotional adjustments, and healing timeline. I know how difficult it can be to care for a newborn while recovering from major surgery, and how often C-section recovery is minimized or misunderstood. Living through those different recoveries allowed me to develop empathy and patience for mothers who may feel frustrated, exhausted, or discouraged during postpartum healing. It also taught me how important individualized care and support truly are. I approach motherhood and lactation from a holistic perspective, believing that healing and wellness go beyond the physical body. Nutrition, rest, emotional support, mindfulness, and honoring a mother’s lived experience all play a role in recovery and breastfeeding success. By blending holistic practices with practical lactation support, I aim to meet mothers where they are and provide care that respects their bodies, their choices, and their cultural experiences. This work feels like a calling—one rooted in motherhood, resilience, and a deep commitment to improving outcomes for Black and other mothers of color.
